Hello, everyone.

I am completely new to this type of repair so be easy. Lol

I have a Burndy crimping tool and and I was doing some maintenance on it and hooked up the battery to the terminals via alligator clips to check if they were working properly and got them crossed. The tool works with the battery in but it does not shut off. Just keeps running.

i took a look at the circuit board and noticed that some pad look like they got burned off or something? I don’t really know if that’s what it is or not.
Can someone point me in the right direction on how to get this working right again? What materials I would need? Tools? Etc

I appreciate all the help and input.

pic for reference.

what pads you think look burned? and can you make image a bit sharper? what is the part number of U1? also where is the picture of PCB backside?
IMG_0135.jpegI can get a better picture and a picture of the backside tonight when I get home from work.

This is my first time looking at a PCB so forgive my ignorance. What is U1?

picture is blurry but there seem to be crater in U1 above pin2. if true that would be hallmark of emergency exhaust for magic smoke
