hi guys, this is my first post. looking for a good forum to get me started with my new hobby

now ive got most of my components, i am stuck on some chips i got as part of a kit. they have eight legs and are tiny....

didnt see that b4, 555timer chips? i got 10x.
i just thought the 555chip has 10legs, must be diff types eh. im a total noob at this just now. just upto date with basics lol

All 555 timer chips have 8 pins.
The standard DIP (dual inline package) is ~0.4"x0.25"
The surface mount ones are ~0.2"x0.15"

A dual 555, a 556, has 14 pins, but the variations are pretty much the same as mentioned.
