Changing forum software from vBulletin to Xenforo

Right now I have 7, "alerts" that killivolt clicked one, "like" on one of my posts. I'm afraid this alert thing might get annoying if they stack up for weeks. Do I delete these alerts, or do they just disappear in a day or two?
Yes I agree they are very annoying.

Hover over the alert box. In the lower right corner, you will find Alert Preferences. Adjust those to what you desire. BTW, if you uncheck the box for receiving an Alert from watched threads, that only stops the alert from being given. If you have also asked for e-mails, you will still receive those. In other words, alert preferences applies to the "Alerts" in the strict sense.
Well my email has been turned off - see post 50 - but they are still coming.

I have now found this other set of options as described and turned all of them off as well so we will see what happens.
But why are these (and all other account) options not collected together in one place?

Looks good guys.

For those of you who are on other forums, ETO for example, that updated to Xenforo, this won't be much of a change for you. Everyone else, I know it's quite a change but you'll get used to it eventually. It really is some great software!
I'm glad someone like it, the more I use it the more faults I am finding.

For instance the long time standard of CTRL + Z to undo no longer works in this editor.

We have lost much and gained only cosmetic differences.

Thank you, Bertus, for replying.

The red alerts seem to have stopped

But

I am still receiving emails, despite the fact that email is allegedly disabled as in the screenshot in my post 50.

@studiot - What type of emails are you receiving? That will help me narrow down the issue.

Ctrl-Z to undo seems to be working for me properly in the editor. What browser are you using?

Thanks

Hello,

You might aslo have notived that the avatars are larger as in the "old" forum.
In the "old" forum an avatar of 80 X 80 pixels was allowed as here you can use an avatar of 200 X 200 pixels.
I have updated my avatar to have a sharper picture.

The "thanks" from the "old" forum have been replaced by the "likes" you are seeing at your status.
There you can also see the "points" , these are related to the number of posts made and the time you are active on the forum.

The emails seem pretty similar to the ones I used to receive weekly, except they come instantly.
I received an email notification of your last post #64, when it is all turned off as per my screenshot.

I could show a screenshot or forward somewhere if you like.

Office browser is IE9 / WindowsXPpro.

This editor/input box really is the pits.

It keeps loosing or rearranging text I type in,

I am getting pretty fed up with it.

Why no symbol menu any more ? And what about Latex editor?
Agreed100%. This is a technical site, not a poetry forum for text only.

I am also having to type in quote tags manually since the current system makes no sense.

I should have the symbol menu up within the next day or so, sorry about the delay. Thanks for the reminder.

@studiot - If you visit http://forum.allaboutcircuits.com/watched/threads/all - You can select the threads you want, and in the drop-down menu select 'Disable Email Notifications'

I'm sorry you are having such problems with the editor. I will see what I can do about the formatting. While the site should be properly compatible with IE9 - I would suggest you update to a modern web browser for full compliance.

The LaTeX tag [TEX]...[/TEX] is fully functional. If you require an editor, I would suggest downloading one or using another web-based editor in the interim while I configure one that works properly with Xenforo.

Thanks everyone for their patience during this transition.

The Quote button in the editor is in a drop-down - I should be able to move it into the main bar and not in the drop-down, let me look into this!

It appears everyone who has not uploaded there own avatar gets a default one of a robot. Will this be changed any time soon? Seems to me if someone doesn't upload a picture, they usually have a reason not to. Or maybe I'm way off here. Just thought I'd bring it up, because it's a bit confusing having multiple members with the exact same Avatar.

I don't have a problem with a default avatar...wish it was a beautiful young lady. ;) Other sites have default avatars, such as the biomedical symbols for male and female. I don't want to be a question mark, though. Anyway, I don't see that as a concern that needs to be addressed this month. There are far more important functional issues to resolve.

So what is the point of a general tick box to turn off emails if I have to go back over and turn every one of them off manually?

The Quote button in the editor is in a drop-down - I should be able to move it into the main bar and not in the drop-down, let me look into this!
The editor I see looks nothing whatsoever like your picture.

@studiot - I can only assume that you were still receiving the emails because you were watching these threads (and receiving the email alerts) before you unchecked the setting in your profile.

If you post in a new thread, or start a new thread, you should no longer receive any emails. If you do, please let me know.

I just logged in using IE8, IE9 and IE10 - The editor was loading properly for me. Could anyone else please try to verify? I'm really not sure, maybe try clearing your cache and restarting IE? I believe IE12 is the latest version, it may be worth upgrading to that.

Mine is working fine. How do you reply? Do you click on the "reply" button, do you use the "quick-reply", or something else?

Maybe just refresh your browser or clear your cookies. No matter which browser I have and which method I use, I still get the button bar at the top of the reply pane.

Regards,
Matt

What I really dont like is that when I click on a thread on the main page, which I have not ever read, it takes me to the last post in the thread, and not the first unread post which would be the first one. Could we change this?

Well since this thread was started after the change and I am receiving email alerts for it, how can this be?
Surely whether the forum sends me an email or not is set by something in the forum, not in my pc?

I just received one for Kubeek's comment which I, and quite a few others have already mentioned.

We seem to have lost much and as far as I can see gained nothing with the new presentation.

I have had the opportunity to try out AAC on another Windows XPpro computer, with IE9, and can see a sort of a toolbar.
Something over 30% of the worlds pc's (a higher % in the business world) are still on XP
And IE9 is the most advanced version that can be deployed with XP.
Is this something to do with java?
