Cannot get FET to turn on.

Agreed with dl324. My simulation shows that there is a 27V drop on the Rload with a current of 1.36A through the FET.

If you are not getting any voltage drop across your load, the FET is probably gone.

Thanks ABSF for the response.The schematic is just to cool. Using a clamp on ammeter at your
rl2 read 0 amps. Would you suspect our choice of FET is to whimpy for this task? If so what FET would you suggest and any other parts of the ckt need changing or adding to make this ckt work? We appreciate what you have done so far.

Here's the datasheet of your P channel MOSFET. I couldn't even find a P channel MOSFET in TO247 casing in Element 14 websites. If you still have spare 48P20P MOSFET it would be fine to use them.

I dont have a MOSFET that beefy in my simulator model so I just use a 100V 40A to substitute it.
