Hi i was Wondering if it is safe or even possible to use 16awg extension cord wires that are stripped from there orange sheathing
in D.C. Circuits?
in D.C. Circuits?
One more thing the wire is rated for 65c is that enough for D.C. Circuit running about 2 to 3 amps?Sure; wire doesn't care whether it's carrying AC or DC. The only thing that matters is that you don't exceed the maximum rated voltage or current of the wire.
If you have AWG 16 wire carrying 2-3 amps, you should be OK.One more thing the wire is rated for 65c is that enough for D.C. Circuit running about 2 to 3 amps?
Are you going to put it into an environment that will be even close to or greater than 65 deg C?One more thing the wire is rated for 65c is that enough for D.C. Circuit running about 2 to 3 amps?
It's just going to be going in a car for a backup camera system D.C.Are you going to put it into an environment that will be even close to or greater than 65 deg C?
Current handling is cross sectional area, you can download a look up table - temperature is mostly what the insulation material can withstand without losing its integrity. One more thing the wire is rated for 65c is that enough for D.C. Circuit running about 2 to 3 amps?
It will be inside the car in trunk area will that be ok?The thing I would be concerned about using that cord in an automotive environment would be abrasion resistance, especially if these were originally inside a larger encasement.
Just make sure it doesn't lap over any sharp edges. It will be inside the car in trunk area will that be ok?
