Worth Sharing!
Now we can proudly say, the future of our nation is in a safe hand! Hats off to you kids. You inspire the whole next-gen.

Chennai school kids give beggars a sweet new life.
A 52- year- old man in shabby clothes sells chocolates from a spotless chair and study table in front of the Ayyappan temple in Perambur. Till two months ago, he was begging on this very street for three years. It isn't a rags-to-riches story, but a tale of a handful of school students who wanted to make lives better.

R Naagar was given the new life of a candy man by a group of Class 11 students of Kaligi Ranganathan Montford Matriculation Higher Secondary School. When many looked at beggars with disdain or offered small change, this group of 13 boys and girls did something different. They scout their surroundings for beggars who are willing to work and give them an opportunity. The students pooled in their pocket money and helped Naagar set up this petty shop with Rs 2500. They have identified 30 beggars like Naagar at nearby parks and temples. "We are looking for jobs of sweepers and security personnel for the others," says M Roshni, a student of the group. "We met the city mayor with the idea. He has offered loans to beggars we identify."

Not all beggars are entitled to this offer. "We do blood tests on them to check of they are alcoholics or smokers," says school headmistress Anitha Daniel. Some beggars tried to make use of us, the children said. "Some put conditions to work for a living. We are careful in choosing only those who want to live a decent life," says A C Hariharan, another student.

You cannot give a new life to someone who doesn't want it.

It doesn't take intelligence to turn your back on people, but keep telling yourself it does if that makes you feel better. The thing about liberals is, they feel better by helping people reach up, not by tearing people down.

And it doesn't even need to be liberals. Any one can commit to the old "golden rule". But many here don't seem to know what that is.

Yeah. Just ask the citizens of Ferguson, Baltimore, Cleveland, Chicago, Detroit, New York, LA and countless others how much help they got, :)

There actually is a large body of evidence suggesting that the conservatives are very passionate about giving their money to charity. On the other hand, the liberals are far more passionate about giving other people's money to charity.

I love data.... Good data.....
While what you say may be true that same data might also prove poor people are giving more and rich people giving less. (This is provable from the data)
Or, it could be liberals in red states give more.
Deep down I suspect your correct. The religious right probably does give more, but who really knows. Maybe you can start a poll.

Wealthier Americans still gave more in absolute terms, increasing their donations between 2006 and 2012 by $4.6 billion, adjusted for inflation, to $77.5 billion. In that period, the collective wealth of Americans on The Forbes 400 soared by $1.04 trillion.
Those who earned less than $100,000 gave $57.3 billion in 2012.
So now if you look up the richest states you would say the liberals gave more in real dollars.

Two observations on charity givings are fairly consistent:

1) conservatives give more than liberals;
2) Americans (generally more conservative) give more than Europeans (generally more liberal).

Both agree that we should take care of our needy; Conservatives believe taking care of the less fortunate is the responsibilities of each of us, while liberals believe taking care of the less fortunate is the responsibilities of others (=through the government).

I have a friend who was an absolute supporter of ObamaCare, until she saw her premium skyrocketed -> apparently she believed that providing universal care is the responsibility of the government, not each of us.
