Boost converter circuit problem

hello,
I am using this guide for my boost converter circuit:
https://learn.adafruit.com/diy-boost-calc/the-calculator

The problem is when I made this circuit on a breadboard it worked fine but when I soldered the components on a strip-board it shorted the power supply above 2A and the inductor started to heat. although the circuit on the breadboard naturally did short the power supply since the inductor gets energized but the one on the strip-board doesn't work.
What could be the potential problem?

I have checked it thoroughly.
I can confirm that there is no wiring problem.
Any other reason that comes to mind?

Show the complete schematic and pics of your actual circuit.

Where is the 2A going? What load is the circuit driving?
My power supply shows around 2A and gets close to 3A when i turn the gate signal on.
The load is a 1k resistor. Nothing much. was working when i made it on the breadboard without that level of current flow.
