@MisterBill2
my current setup is that inside the wall socket Neutral is connected also to the Ground, then Live.

I was planning to have separate module for each device, i have 2 devices AMP and DAC.
so can have one component with relay of 4 switching contacats (N,L - DAC; N,L - AMP)?

DAC is consuming no idea - max 500W? need to find out what fuse is inside. assuming 5-6A max.
thanks

That description in post #101 seems reasonable and OK.

The issue, which has been presented and discussed a bit already, is that any zero current, or zero voltage, switching must be with a solid-state device, and thus involve all of the issues associated with solid state devices. THAT is the logic behind recommending electromagnetic relays (E.M.R.'s) of an adequate quality level and ratings.

I went thru the all posts again.

I don't get it. They (netio) claim they do Zero current switching with actual / mechanical relays ie. their device has some electronic which switching mechanical relay while sensing zero current, that's how I understand it.

Also their product is switching only Live not neutral.

And one more thing, the Psu of the amp may work as I described, once power switch is turned on, it powers small toroidal transforner which powers electronic that with some delay switches both mechanical relays ie relay per channel / big toroidal transformer.

Thanks

Thanks!

I know we've gone full circle over 6 pages and as I understand it, we're back to finding a solution for mains switching, something external to the devices being switched, which will be left with their power switches set to "on".

If it was me, I'd just find the appropriate smart switch and quit worrying about it. By "appropriate" I mean it supports whatever home automaton control protocol you prefer. Many people don't care about the protocol as long as they can operate the switch with their smartphone. But if you are more into home automation you might for examples prefer HomeKit if you're in a mostly-Apple ecosystem, or whatever protocol your phone and/or computer use.

You can find these switches, rated to more than enough current for a hifi, for $5-25 depending on brand and features. Here's an example (that I don't have any personal experience with) for American (120V) users:

The power switches inside your devices are very likely simple, mechanical, mains-switching switches. It's true there is some wiggle room between "very likely" and "certainly".

I wouldn't invest any effort or money on fancy switching outside the devices unless/until I was certain the internal switch is anything more than a simple switch.

@wayneh i have provided photos of internals and Switches of both devices.

have u had a chance to see?

thx

In #76? In the first photo there I see in the upper right corner what appears to be a simple mechanical switch. Can you confirm that is the power switch? If so, there's no reason a similar switch placed externally would be any different. You're probably correct that the power switch activates a relay that does the actual switching of main power to the device.

Let me know where any additional photos are.

[edit] Oops, I may not be correct. It's a little more complicated. There could be power directed to internal "stand by" components even when the switch shown is set to Off. Only IF all line power goes through that power switch could we be certain. I can't fully trace the power with just the photo.

it would be nice to just sit into the chair and using voice->home automation -> power on whole system and play some nice jazz.
And I see no good reason to not use a smart plug for that purpose.
They typically contain a relay the controls the AC power to the devices.
I voice control all my TV/sound-systems with those using Amazon Alexa and have never had a significant problem.
