Selling tantalum capacitors for scrap may be viable, but you need a quantity supply not just one board.

Selling other components is a non-starter. Were they working when still attached to the board? Did they survive the de-soldering process?
There are some chips on there which look like BGA - difficult to get off the board and if they use solder balls then impossible (on an amateur basis) to regenerate the balls.

I certainly wouldn't (knowingly) buy reclaimed electronic parts at any price.

 

Especially the smd's

 

Hmmm well could you start me off by lettig me know whether any off these componenets have tantalum inside them, oh this is just one board out off a sky box, the boxes have at least 2 major boards and i have an additional 5 sky boxes, various models...

 

Would the chips be off any value? I have a decent heat gun if that helps,

I can see nothing I can identifiy as tantalum. The attached shows four black rectangles which I believe are zener diodes (as their designation begins with ZD) but smd tantalum capacitors look rather like that and with a similar polarity stripe at one end. They would have desinations beginning with C.

Ok,i thank you for your assistance, so initally there is no point in desolderig the surfacd mount components as they are worth virtually nothing?

Did they work before you removed them? Even if they did do they still work? How do you plan to test them before you sell them? What would you do when your customer complains that they don't work?

Ask yourself if you can find ANYBODY online selling used SMD parts?

 

In my experience, board components of greatest value are the mechanical components, including heatsinks, knobs, attachment hardware. When you need just one of, it is often hard to find. Power inductors have some value, particularly if labeled as many of yours are. Resistors and capacitors are worthless. Possible exceptions to that being high-wattage resistors and very low valued ones used for current monitoring.

As for IC's, I have collected a few but have never used any of them.

In answer to PB, a surplus store in Cleveland has surplus electronic components and many used transformers, power inductors, heat sinks and other mechanical stuff for sale.

 

I suspect the energy used to desolder the components would cost more than the price you would get for them.

What is scrap for the one, can be of great value to others.
In some parts of the world scrap boards can be of great value to the user, as parts can be very hard to get.
