Interesting animation. This machine is not a literal machine, there are no mechanical linkages to cause the fingers to move. It's just an exercise in animation only. Like the Pixar lamp that jumps and looks around - it's not real. Nevertheless, it's pretty cool.

Years back - gotta be the early 80's I saw a video of a machine that actually played instruments, and it was quite cool. Wish I could find that video again.

@bertus Yeah, I saw that maybe two years ago. Very impressive machine. Too bad it was not a mechanically sound machine. From what I've seen he's building a newer version. Or maybe it's already done - but either way I'm looking forward to coming across that video.

Martin (Wintergatan) has been working on a "new" version of the "Marble Machine" for over a year now (nearing 2 years, actually - the "Marble Machine X"). The amount of improvements he's made is phenomenal.

 

Amazing to me that they are able to filter out the "machine noise" from the music.

I don't have a twitter account either. You shouldn't need one to see videos because this site automatically formats the link (it does with Chrome).

Are you using the most recent version of Firefox? I use Firefox, and it's showing the Twitter page/preview/inset thingy just fine for me.
