... under cover of New Zealand's exceptionally strict virus lockdown, a group of thieves went to work.
...
New Zealand was at a virtual standstill under the coronavirus lockdown making the theft easy. In fact, so easy it was a temptation too far - and the thieves came back for a second helping. And another.

A total of 97 vehicles were spirited away.

CALGARY -- Lethbridge's chief of police is calling for an investigation into the actions of responding officers after video of an arrest outside a Star Wars-themed restaurant on May 4 surfaced online.

A 19-year-old employee at Coco Vanilla Galactic Cantina dressed as a familiar Star Wars stormtrooper and danced outside the restaurant with blaster in hand to mark the occasion of May the Fourth, the day Star Wars fans celebrate the iconic film franchise as a play on the "May the force be with you" line.

Lethbridge police arrived with guns drawn, shouting at the teenage girl to drop her blaster, which she says she didn't hear through her storm trooper helmet.

If you haven't heard of a "Murder Hornet" - - - . And yes, folks, it's real. It MUST be. It's on the internet. But it's also been on prime time news as well, so, yeah, it's probably a real thing.

Well here's a fool who thinks he's immune to being stung. Well, sort of. He LET this thing sting him. I'm looking for the YouTube version. But for now check this out!

First a plane, now a warship.

Tehran (AFP) - An Iranian warship was accidentally hit by a missile during exercises in the Gulf of Oman, killing at least one, state television said Monday, amid tensions with the US in the waterway.

The friendly fire incident involving the Konarak vessel occurred on Sunday afternoon near Bandar-e Jask, off the southern coast of the Islamic republic, it said on its website.

One report said the vessel had sunk after being hit by a missile fired by another Iranian warship.

Reminds me of the tale being told of Iraqi pilots comparing them to US pilots during the Gulf War. American pilots break ground and fly into the wind. Iraqi pilots break wind and fly into the ground.

While it was nice to see how the community stepped up to help out the company in response to how the company had been helping the community, it always amazes me in these stories why people are always surprised that there are bad people out there that will take advantage of any situation in order to do bad things.

What’s that noise? The 17-year cicadas are back

Sent that link to my wife. She LOVES insects that don't bite or sting. Having seen these little beasts up close - they're fugly as uuck! Gi-normous house fly looking things. And amazing how they make so much noise by themselves, let alone in a swarm.

I've known the yearly variety. IF there were the 13 or 15 variety - I don't know that I've heard them or not. I describe the sound as buzz saws.

Researchers go cuckoo: Antarctic penguins release an extreme amount of laughing gas

David Attenborough wondered why the elephant seals we're so playful in an episode of nature.

Reporters too.

Speaking of Penguins, you may have seen this. I saw it many years ago. If you haven't seen it - enjoy. Oh, you might want to mute the audio. Or at least turn it way down.

Came upon this one. You're going to at the very least smile and be amazed at the level of intelligence animals actually have.

I've always enjoyed the antics of "tree rats" and their inventiveness. But that guy is seriously bored to go to all that trouble to amuse them...
