I'm gonna stick this here......I thought it was weird when I first heard this, but it's really kinda sad.
I had to have a window replaced due to some tree damage. The tech did a superb job....in good time.
As he was leaving he mentioned that this job was a welcome break. We asked him what he meant. He said he hardy ever fixes a normal broken window anymore. I asked him why....and he told us that he spends all his time replacing windows due to gunshots. We couldn't believe it....but he assured us it was true.
Do you remember bout 10 years ago....maybe more......of the audio gun shot detectors to be put in high crime areas? They were suppose to record the time and direction of gunshots. It didn't work out too well on the direction aspect. A multiple echo problem I believe.
Maybe a monthly window count would be a good crime parameter. Not real time.....but shows illegal gun activity.
I certainly didn't know it took a full time tech for gunshots.....in a city this size. Makes me wonder if the crime reporting statistics are accurate.
