It is interesting to see the different currencies that are valued in remote places. I did a fly-in fishing trip some time back on Great Bear Lake NT, north of the Arctic Circle some time back. Great time! As we were loading up the plane to leave, our guides and others looked longingly at our Sam's packs of AA and C cells as well as a 3lb chub of summer sausage I'd brought along for emergency rations. We parted with the items and you'd think we'd have given them a million bucks.

It's a complex, fun, and wonderful world we live in.
