I am sorry to hear that the weather down there gave you such a difficult time. Your friends deserve medals for saving you. We had snow too, up here in Canada, but we are used to it. It just cost me an hour working with the snow blower (electric, of course), to get the driveway clear.
I am sure your soldering skills will improve with practice. You have my admiration for being so persistent. I am looking forward to seeing your Cook Book.

Wendy, I am glad that you are doing so well. I have been very busy working witha business partner to get a new restaurant started, which will be a sit-down version of the current take-out-only place.

 

I now have a soldering iron that has a one handed trigger feed, it even has a built in power controller. It is a bit shoddy. but I'd still recommend it (when it breaks I'll buy a new one). Haven't tried any kits yet. I've been busy on AAC, I've updated the Project Parts Reference V2.0 thread with datasheets for the semiconductors on the list. Next step is to add semiconductors I think would be helpful to beginners. A lot of them will come from my LEDs, 555s, Flashers, and Light Chasers article. I've also started Wendy's Protoboard Circuits Cookbook, it's pretty small but I have to start somewhere. I have some other ideas I'll be implementing soon. All of the new ides will be reflected in Wendy's Index as I come up with them.


I've harnesed my OCD tendencies to control my finances to good effect. I have bumped into the down side of it but I hope I'm reining them in. I'm always open to new ideas, I spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to function as an hemiplegic, I still have along ways to go. I'm also saving for a 3D printer. I recieved my stimulus money today, which took a lot of financial stress I've been dealing with. I'm going to stick with my current savings plan. Like the story of the man who fell out of a 10 story window, So far so good. Which is a lot like life when you think about it.

I have had a major breakthrough with the speech to text today. I am using Microsoft 10 to dictate, and minimize my use of the keyboard. Typing for me has been major frustrating for way too long. May be my productivity on the keyboard is going to show an increase one can hope.

So, my project to attach a capillary tube was a total failure. I haven't given up, I just have to try a different way next time. Failure is how we learn. I'll have to keep trying until I figure it out. It's just going to take a little longer than I expected.

 

I only have to figure it out once, as all I need is one.

 

I really like the Microsoft dictation software. It seems to be getting better over time. For someone like me with just one hand it is a godsend. I use projects to get me through where I'm at now. Most of my projects involve paper and cardboard, it kept me sane until I can get back in two electronics. I am willing to bet most people have noticed an increase in my posting and productivity. Hopefully this trend will continue. I still fight brain fog to a large degree. My Alexa has also been very helpful. Helping shore up my brain damaged memory.

It will continue, just keep hammering at it. Think back several years and look at where you are today.

Today is my B day. It is pretty much like every day. I turn 65, Which means several pensions start next month. The extra money will come in handy, I'm always on the the edge w/ SSI.
