Hi,

I am working on designing on board charger. For this first stage convert AC power to DC power. For this I took, totem pole configuration as example. Here RL is connected as a load resistance. In this configuration, capacitor charges and discharges through RL. When RL is removed, I see capacitor charges to higher extent and goes beyond limit. What should be done to limit the capacitor storage when RL is removed.

Thanks,

Two obvious kludges are to: 1) Use a cap with a higher rating, or 2) Add enough resistance in parallel to the load to prevent the spike. It's possible that a high resistance, a trivial load, might be enough. If you need anything more elegant than that, I'm out.
