6V motor battery

I have the 6V 100rpm motor visible on the picture.

It works with 6V from the transfo visible on right, but not from the AA battery pack.

Is it a problem of insufficient amps or something?

What kind of 6V battery could I use that would still be reasonably small and do the trick?

Thanks

The two AA battery pack you show is only 3V and you need 6V.

Need to know how much current the motor takes before a battery can be recommended.

How long do you need the motor to run with the battery?

There's actually 4 batteries, even if they don't appear on the pic.

Here are the details about the motor:

Voltage: DC 6V

No load
Speed 100rpm
Current (A) 0.01

Rated load
Speed 80rpm
Current (A) 0.03
Torque (KG.CM) 0.40

Stalling
Torque (KG.CM) 3.20
Current (A) 1.0

It will need to turn for a couple of seconds about 10 times during a meal, it's supposed to become a twirling Swiss fondue fork

Hi D,
Do you have a voltmeter that could check the motor voltages when the battery is connected.?
E
Does reversing the +/- connections to the motor give the same problem.?

Just a shot in the dark but could the batteries be rechargable 1.2V, instead of 1.5V? If that's the case the battery pack voltage would only be 4.8V. Also, (daft question) How do we know the batteries aren't empty?

Those are non rechargeable.
I checked with a voltmeter, there's indeed 6V for the battery pack
I tried to revert the wires, but to no avail.

I'll check the motor voltage when the battery is connected when I'm back home.

I tried with a different set of AA batteries, which total 5.76V instead of 6.06V with the original ones and this time it worked.
Go figure!
Thanks for all your excellent hints.

What chemistry are the two sets of batteries - zinc-carbon, zinc-chloride, alkaline...?

I already threw the bad ones away, because they also prevented a drone remote from working.
Quite phenomenal pieces of junk.
The ones that work are alkaline.
