Working on a animatronic Halloween toy that can run on 4 AA batteries or plug in a power supply. The to toy says 6 volt 1 amp I have a 6 volt 2 amp supply can I use that power supply they don't make this particular toy anymore so I don't want to burn it out but it can eat up some batteries. Hope I posted in right place any help appreciated.

The toy will only pull as much current as needed, so as long as the supply can deliver at least 1 A, you are fine.

It's like connecting a dome light from a car directly to the battery. The dome light only needs a fraction of an amp, but the battery is capable of delivering hundreds of amps. Not a problem, the lamp only draws what it needs.

Thank you much appreciated

If you put it in Homework Help, that's the wrong place. In this forum you're more likely to get guidance, not answers.

Do you worry about plugging a 100W lamp into a 15 amp circuit in your house? The answer will usually be no; unless you're maxing out that circuit and that extra 100W will trip the breaker.

Your PSU can deliver 12W. Your toy needs 6W to run.

Here is a simple analogy.
Would you drive a 2000 lb vehicle over a bridge rated for 1000 Ib load max?
Would it be safe to drive the same vehicle over a bridge rated for 4000 lb max?
