Generic boards are common and components are often left off of the basic version (maybe a few USB ports) and more components needed for more USB ports, on-board high-quality audio, or what ever. Look at the manufacturer's product offerings to see where your motherboard sits in relationship to other product offerings. It is very likely that the high-end offering uses the same PCB.
This is common for audio receivers and many other products. Minimizing inventory through careful design engineering.
