Hello all. For my engineering design class, I have to include a 3v to 5v converter for my project. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for 3v to 5 converter ICs that can be put on a breadboard (I heard from a source saying that they only work on a pcb)

 

How much current from the 5V?

It's true if you try to build a switcher on a proto board you will have nothing but problems.

This is probably old. I'd go to national.com/simple switchers and get the latest stuff.

 

In addition to wondering what type of current you need, why do you need it? I ask for example, because if you are interfacing different logic levels/MCUs, there are some simple techniques that don't require an IC.
