36V Li-Ion battery Load Cutoff/Battery Charge circuit issue

Problem: I have a 10s 36V li-ion battery pack powering my load (resistor used as example). When the charger is connected I would like the load to be cutoff as well as charge the battery. In my current set up I have the load being cut off when the charger is connected through the pmos but the battery is not being recharged. Is there a way to implement this without having to put a physical switch between the charger and the battery positives?

Advice would be greatly apprieciated,
Thanks.

You have no path to the battery for the charging current.

Here's the LTspice sim of a circuit to do that:
D1 has to be selected to carry the charging current.

Certainly the evaluation is correct: The load is indeed cut off, and likewise, there is no charging current path. The charger isolation diode is needed to avoid a control conflict when the charger is active. An alternative would be an actual magnetic relay, but that would be bigger and a bit more complex..
