130volt regulator questions (STR30130)

If the original regulator matched the datasheet STR30130.pdf its should work (As pin 5 is not used.) but if the new regulator matched the datasheet STR30130_sanken.pdf then the fact that pin 5 is now connected to the base of the lower transistor and in the TV it is connected to ground then the regulator could not control it's output. If pin 5 was disconnected from ground then either version of regulator should work. I think it would be worth disconnecting pin 5.

Yes.
Whichever type of regulator is actually fitted, disconnecting pin 5 can do no harm.
The regulator has been replaced and a change of style may cause the present symptoms.

Here is what I found... Pin 2 does read one volt HIGHER than Pin 4. Soooo that means
it is regulating??? But something isn't working because with using AC wall outlet,
input reads 162 vdc and output reads 150vdc... 20 volts high!.

Are you fellas saying some change in regulator design could be responsible? I do
have a supposedly genuine STR30130 Sanken on the way .... original number
on the part showed no brand.

UPDATE! Just removed Pin 5 from ground and it is WORKING !!! Input is still
around 160 and output is 129 !!! I'm shocked but kudo's to all you helpers. I
will monitor this and hopefully it will continue to work..'
Thanks so much !
