I have a 12vdc single circiut that is protected with a 80 amp auto reset breaker, can I split the load across two 40amp breakers or will it still see the same load on each breaker?

Hi,

Even the slightest difference in the two paralled breakers will assure that one will pop open, with the other following. That's part of the law of electronics called "the inate animosity of inanimate objects". Fuses work the same way.
