If you are old and have a sun leather-ed neck....you're a redneck. Retired redneck.

The modern redneck is a yuppie. You see rebel flags with "redneck" on them, but you don't see anything about "hillbilly pride" because nobody really... I don't know. To me, a real hillbilly is someone who lives for the hills, who really does care for their fellow man and their land.

I like hillbillies. I feel like I'm a hillbilly. I might not dress like one, but you can tell by my accent—anywhere I go, people say, "You're from West Virginia, aren't you?"

Ernest T was the best character on the show. Better even than the Fife character. Bass was played by Howard Morris a director on the show.

 

I've said this in another thread but I am a redneck and proud of it. The jokes about it don't bother at all.
Among the trailer trash and redneck you have forgotten hick, hillbilly, white trash, inbred and many more.
I have been called everyone of these at sometime in my life or heard someone somewhere use these terms at someone.
it's Ok by me to use these terms in a joke but it's a different story when aimed in hatred. Yes southern people are red (tanned) all over not just the neck. I live in the south and it hot as crap down here in the summer so the only way to combat the heat is to go shirtless and allow your skin to become use to it.

I post on another forum and most or I should say a lot of them live in the U.K. I was starting to wonder if there were any sane people even over there. They don't like guns, they let their government allow other people from other countries tell them what to do, have mini countries inside their own borders and they are open (it's madness gone amuck} Thank God for Donald Trump over here and "Trying" to straighten out all the messes the democrats have placed our (my) country in. I'm sorry your not allowed to own guns over there, the bad guys don't go by those rules but your government forces you to. Your welcome anytime you decide to come over, you can give up on them cos they've already gave up on you. the first way you control you people is to take away their way to fight back (which they have) then you remove their rights one by one starting with religion and working your way from there. our leaders want to allow Illegal Aliens to come in because they can't win if they go by their beliefs and policies so they get people to come here illegally and now are trying to give them voting rights and hand outs to make sure they vote for them. cos no matter what the media says about us we're not as stupid as they would like us to be and we didn't fall for it.

I don't have a problem with good red necks. One of my best friends as a child was a classic red neck from a classic Texas red neck family. We hunted, fished and gigged crawdads together as kids. After leaving Texas for 30 years we met after he was elected Sheriff of the county. We hugged like brothers at that meeting, talked about old times and how he managed to hide all the things we did as kids.
