thankk you for that. i think its awesome and obnoxious but whatever. so i have the thought to add an additional switch to the system. it would be akin to a manual overide. basically so that i can hit a switch on the outside of the garage and have the door open without affecting the timer functionality. could i do this by adding a 3way switch. or would i need to make the dpdt relay into a 3pdt relay. what do you think

Is it wired as shown in post #31 or some other way?

ok i see would it also be possible to use a 4 way switch in the same way just without the "down" part. so 4way switch in the up position would open the door, and in the down position would return control to the timer and whatever setting it is on at that moment. i ask because essentially all i require is the ability to open the door on command with out shorting the breaker(again!!!) lol. like i drew below???? or am i confused. the blue wires represent travelers.circuit2.png

Uhhh... yeah, I think that would work. But since...

all i require is the ability to open the door on command
...It would be simpler to just put a single pole switch in-line with the hot wire going to the relay. Right here:

Just make sure that breaking the circuit causes the door to open, and if not, reverse polarity to the actuator. But if it's not already set up that way then this will probably require inverting all the values in the timer so that it opens when it's supposed to open instead of closing when it's supposed to open.

ok so heres what ive done. i inserted a sp switch between the timer and the dpdt relay and add ed another sp switch from a seperate 110v power supply. as long as the timer switch is down i can run the door and the timer still works. so i think i got it. i might not need two switches but it works. heres the diagram below. thanks again for the assistance. i really appreciate it.circuit2.png
