Wireless system with a crystal oscillator

Hello all,

I'm very new to this circuits thing, but I was hoping y'all might help me with a project I'm doing. The idea is to have two wireless devices (that will end up being about 15 ft apart) that achieve a very simple task: I need one device to tell a second device if something is good or bad. Just those two states. I was wondering if I could do this using a crystal oscillator?

So I've created several circuits (see attached): one has just a single crystal, one has two crystals, or (not attached) I was thinking I might be able to use a VFO or a VCO? I'm still very new, but I think one of these might work well as a simple transmitter. I'm thinking for the receiver I can use something like a Arduino Uno or nano?

If all y'all could help me where I'm falling short that would be great, I'd really like this idea to work, but I need some more experienced suggestions before I try a prototype.

Thanks guys,
ChanD

I realized the switches may not make sense. I idea is when something happens, it will throw the switch and change the output which allows the receiver to know if everything is good or not. So the difference between the two circuits is if just a simple on/off is ok, or if two different frequencies are needed.

Thanks,
ChanD

Well, I'm going to use a receiver like this one: https://www.banggood.com/315MHz-DC1...s=detail-left-hotproducts__3&cur_warehouse=CN

I'm having trouble finding a transmitter with just a single switch, but I'll keep looking. I know I could just buy a remote, but this is going inside a custom housing, so I would like not to have to remove the housing for every wireless system.

For my switch, I'm going to be using a proximity sensor, like one of these: https://www.banggood.com/search/proximity-sensor-switch.html

If you have any suggestions about a single button/switch remote/transmitter, I'd love to hear about it!

Although I just realized the proximity sensors are incredibly short. I still like the idea of them as my switch, do you have any suggestions about a sensor that would work at around 4-6 inches?

Why don't you get this version. It comes complete with two transmitters:

Well, for two reasons.

1) Like I said above, I really don't want to have to remove the cases from the transmitters. I need to buy 50 or so of them, so taking off each case would be exhausting.

2) If I compare my receiver @ $2.50 or yours w/ two transmitters @ $9, that would mean I'm paying $3.25 per remote. Which is way more expensive than if I just bought a single remote (which I don't want to do as I stated above)

Thanks for the suggestion, but it's not quite what I'm looking for.
