Good Morning. I am Prabhakaran from Thanjavur, Tamilnadu, India. I have been living here for the past 41 years. I am having an extreme interest in aromatherapy products. Recently I have found a website in US selling good aromatherapy nebulizers. But accidentally I have provided my ex-company name along with my residing address in the order form that they have mentioned the same in the invoice also. Despite of my repeated requests to that site they firmly conveyed that the invoice details cannot be changed once made. I have spent a good amount of money to order that aromatherapy nebulizer. But everything is at stake because of that company mentioned one unnecessary detail in the invoice. I sincerely request you to kindly clear that product for delivery. Thanks.

But if all you require is an opinion, I have an Indian acquaintance that is always complaining that the Indian bureaucracy is extremely tough and toxic.

How does one accidentally include a company name in a personal order? I expect you put the company name because they would not ship to an individual, and that is why you are having problems.

There is a feature called Auto-fill in the browser. And also I thought it's a mandatory field. This is my first ever international shipment to receive.

 

There is likely a tariff. Ask them how to pay what is due and get the package released. That is probably their concern. (who is paying it)

International shipping is sometimes problematic here in the US as well, and it is likely to get worse.

The invoice probably can't be changed because it has already shipped. I you ask me to mail something to you to a certain address and then, after I've shipped it, ask me to change the address I shipped it to, how am I going to do that?

If it is a matter of the item not being released because of some company or government bureaucracy in India, then you probably need to simply bribe someone to do their job.

You live in India, so you should have a much better grasp of how things work there than I do. But based on my conversations with several people from India, it is very common that if you want to get anything done, you often have to bribe someone to make it happen. It is just a part of the fabric of how the system works there.

Having said that, India is a very big country (at least population-wise) and so I'm sure the degree of bribery and the level at which it must be accommodated vary from place to place considerably.

Yes. It's common. But we cannot not explicitly offer. I am ready to give upto 3K INR as bribe as the product value is only 6000 INR. Not more than half of its price.

If you are willing to pay half it's value as a bribe, then be sure to consider how much time and effort is it going to take and the risk of it not working at all. It might be a matter of just making a new order, being sure to do it correctly this time, and considering the added cost as the price of tuition for learning to pay closer attention in the future.
