Hello everyone I am interested in how everything works, I love to learn new things, I hope to learn from all of you, I also hope I can help you as well...

Hi folks. I am a product developer. Mostly mechanical but I do have experience in electronics, especially electrical integration into products and algorithms. Inventor on 27 corporate patents. Worked corporate America for almost 30 years. Now I consult with small businesses as well as fortune 500 business, such as Kodak, HP, Xerox, Dow Chemical, Source Technologies and others. Expert in portions of engineering and imaging fields. <snip>

Historically I always had great people to rely on for my dumb electrical questions. I trust I am in good hands.

Salutations,

Google took me here because of various interests (mainly related to electro-magnetic induction heating) though it's only as a reader i've finally considered i should register and visit the board more often: i'm always looking for stimulating hobbies and this one made me curious. Yet i won't pretend i'd be able to contribute often.

The time of long hours sitting in a torture chair are well over, it's only for spare time as far as i'm concerned. Maybe a couple years ago i would have been tempted to get involved but quite frankly i think i'll better watch for a while and stay low-profile, simply to appreciate the view! At least as an observer i know it should be pleasurable.

:)

Personally i seek illustrations of beauty implemented through simplicity, translating as a balance of optimized trade-offs, while having fun learning by experimention, etc.

I'll bet there's a lot of this going on around so that's how i came to sign in, finally.

Good day, have fun! :D

I am a physics graduate, doing a Science Education course in JNCASR, Bangalore. As part of my work here, got exposed to some electronic stuff and now planning to learn more.

I'm a retired ER doc, but also had an embedded controller design business for a number of
years - I mainly subcontracted to a larger Chemical Engineering / Equipment Design company on the central coast.
But life intervened... my dad became ill (passed away seven yr ago), and until recently, i've been looking after my
97 y/o mom. She recently moved to a retirement community, making me a free spirit ! (and she's happy, also).
I've done a fair amount of digital design; but much of the time, analog seems like a 'black box' to me... unless it's
really simple. And who says you can't do analog with four times it's volume in digital ?!
Sometimes complexity prevails over simplicity... and confusion prevails over both.....

For easy developement projects, I'm still in love with the old PC motherboard with ISA slots... we talk well together.
A few of my (mostly home built) projects.... years ago, a DSP coprocessor board with a TI 320C25, with audio I/O
on board also. I wrote an assembler, and basic C compiler to use with it. Various other self-contained microprocessor
boards in past... MC68000, Xilog Z180, a Z80 board with video, several PIC processor boards, and most recently,
I've found the Arduino developement system very nice, Another current project (almost done) is taking a basic
milling machine, and converting it to CNC; four axes are stepprt driven (X, Y, Z, and rotary), and I"m trying to
finish C code to interpert and follow HPGL files, and also allow, follow, and store movement commands input by
a hand-held axis controller (joystick and pots to wire-wrapped ADC board in old 486 (ISA) pc). (Nested parathetic
comments allowed (here?) ?)

My social life? ,,,, Hmmmmmm......

Anyway, thats me. Happy to help anyone, if I can.... perfer not to build or completely design outside projects for one-off
situations, but happy to assist, if I can/

I get loads of email, so if you don't heat back, try resending... I might have missed it.

Greetings!

I'm John, a college sophomore (EE, of course). I found this page while looking for help with some basics, and really like the atmosphere. I think many of these forums are fascinating, and will be beneficial to me. Once I gain more competency, I hope to contribute a fair bit as well. Thanks for having me!

It's been very nice here lately. We haven't had a troll for maybe 6 months and the regulars seem to be comfortable with each other. That is, the people who thrive on details and specifics allow the shade tree mechanics to address the noobies at their level without complaining that every word isn't universally true for every case. The main strength of this forum is that we have several dozen voices and somebody connects well with the visitor almost every time. It doesn't matter whether you are having difficulty with the difference between voltage and current or need to define when the frequency spectrum changes from electromagnetic to optical. Somebody here will be able to address the question.

ps, please post your location in your profile page so we can know where you can buy parts.
