Who are you?

Hello everyone, thought I might introduce myself. I am currently studying B/Eng (Hons) Electronic Engineering at Staffordshire University, completing a years industrial placement working for "Capula". They are a company based in the UK who "specialise in advanced automation control and real-time IT solutions for Energy and Utility companies."

Mid June I will be travelling to the USA for the first time ever, to work at a Science and Engineering camp called "Watonka" in PA for 2 months, before touring for a month and returning home to complete my final year of studies.

In the future I hope to secure a job in this area with international job prospects, with a view of moving abroad.

Besides Electronics, my other hobbies and interests include, modular origami, website development, SCUBA diving and model railways.
Nice to see someone else here who dives. What level of diver are you? And if you are certified at least at Advanced Diver...what wrecks have you dove?

I have visited over 70 underwater wreck sites in just about all the major oceans of the world. Many of these were below 200 ft and Heliox was required. I have also used a Rebreather as well as visited USN. Wreck sites some of which I cannot talk about.

If I am not touring during the summer...I enjoy going on Bug Hunts...grabing Lobsters...off Cape Ann...Gloucester Ma...and many places on Cape Cod.

No matter where you go on Earth....Master Diver's from every continent will tell you..."Oh...you dive in New England? I guess I don't have to worry about you."

@ Spinnaker, what did I do to have you to give me a bum rap so much ,you travel

with your laptop and have said you bully your way, even if you have to get phyical.

I get thru the world using good judgement and go where things take me. I have

attended many conventions. So why do you give the impression that I am low life.

I stand on my two feet and still treat bullies as needed ,I still don't have to walk

away. But my choice is face to face with words. If I met you face to face knowing

you or not knowing you....you would not be more presentable....you may be totally

out of place......convince me with words otherwise.....respect the Loosewire untill

you have a good reason....besides my swimming trunks,I am naked to the world for

opinion. Post a picture ready to take a flight.
Loose...since a member has seen to compare us...I believe this is an oppertunity to introduce myself. Hello...I am Split Infinity.

Don't worry about personal attacks by anyone here as responding negatively to them is just a waste of your time. I made this mistake when I was attacked and I not only regret it but I am angry with myself for sinking to the same level.

I am certain you have something of value to offer the members here and just because someone else maynot think so...means VERY LITTLE in the big picture of life.

I would be more than happy to converse and debate with you.

Hey SI. This is not my discussion, but I thought I'd put in my $0.02.

Loosie here is a well respected member on the forum. Any bantering is strictly in good humor, and he understands that. I consider him to be a good friend, as do pretty much other member here at AAC. You don't have to worry about him being torn down. ;)

On that note, I'm sorry you had the experience you did when you first created an account. It was untimely and everyone was on edge from that specific member, and probably quite paranoid. It was not a good introduction to the guys on this forum. We are pretty much all understanding and friendly 99.9% of the time, and I hope you begin to see that soon. :)

Best wishes,
Matt

Thank's Matt...I appreciate that. Thank you for setting it straight as far as Loose is concerned.

Wanted to add my welcome to SplitInfinity as well.

Really the timing was quite unfortunate. I come to Off Topic to relax and learn loosewirese, but we just went through a rough patch and I guess a few people decided to blow off some steam. Do not take it personally. You will quickly learn who the regulars are and that we are well behaved.

Stick around,

V.

Thank You as well. I appreciate your kind words.

What happened before and after I started to post here is in the past and I will veiw it as such. I am not one to hold a grudge and I will admit I am still a bit shell shocked but hey...such are the way of things.

I am currently a BSAC Sports Diver, training for my Dive Leader. I have skills development qualifications in oxygen administration and dry-suit training. I haven't dived many wrecks. My first was a protected wreck in Plymouth called The Coronation, we had to get permission to dive it and were briefed before diving. The second I dived was a wreck called Glen Strathallan in Plymouth. My third wasn't in my eye's a wreck because it was deliberately sunk... but it made for an interesting dive and it's located in Stoney Cove Dive Centre in the UK and is called Stanegarth. The other wreck I have dived is called Hamada in Egypt.

Wow, it certainly sounds like you have done lots of diving! I have been diving for about 2 years now and have logged about 45 dives totaling just over 30 hours.

No matter where you go on Earth....Master Diver's from every continent will tell you..."Oh...you dive in New England? I guess I don't have to worry about you."
Make that "Old England" ;) I have to admit I prefer diving in warmer waters. UK diving is okay and I suppose it is great if you are interested in shipwrecks because I believe it has quite a few! But warm water diving in a wet suit just seems a lot more enjoyable personally!

Who am I?

I am a retired electronics technician, not by choice I might add, the hand of fate had an influence in that. I worked in RF most all my career and electronics has been a life long hobby. My upbringing was somewhat nontraditional and that in part had to with the hand of fate playing it's part in my birth. (long story don't ask, I have found writing books in forum replies to be not such a good idea.) Nontraditional upbringing leads to nontraditional career, besides we always had tools around when I was growing up. I picked up an AS degree almost forty years ago and worked in manufacturing and two way radio for over 21 years. It was nice to find out my employers appropriated my love of the field and in spite of my career I never became burned out. Besides building the occasional project, and making old radio gear and test equipment work, I enjoy hardware hacking.

Everybody always asks how old I am, lets just say I remember hearing the news of Sputnik being launched.

I hold an amateur extra class license and that is currently the center of my hobby. I like HF even though just about all my RF career was VHF, UHF, and microwave. Truthfully I think that aspect of my life was happier back in the days before MMICs and frequency synthesizers on a chip the size of your little fingernail, there isn't much to tune anymore :)

I still have my passion to learn and help others in this hobby, I guess that is why I'm here.

Welcome Alexis. Is that your real picture by chance?

So, whilst I'm being nosy (and I am a very nosy person), are you into electronics or science perhaps?

Wow I skimmed through the intros pretty fast but I can tell you guys right now I'm no crazy mathematician or scientist. I'm a 23 year old Magician who is starting to learn electronics to incorporate into new cutting edge magic.
Its a pleasure to be here.

Always nice to see a fellow Californian!:) Too many people think we run around in flip flops, shorts, and say, "bro" a lot. At least a few people know the truth!

Some of us even know how to hunt and fish and have used firearms.

Ed...he's a story. I was in Aruba and with My Girl ans she is a very capable diver herself. We chartered a dive boat and dove the wreck of the MS Antilla...a German Freighter scuttled in 1940. The wreck is massive...length...120 plus meters...beam...17 meters...and it is the third largest wreck in the Carribean.

I do my homework before doing a wreck dive and this wreck is listed at only 55 to 60 feet deep. REALITY CHECK! This is incorrect!

I have a Dive Computer but I ALWAYS do my Dive Calculations Manually as one never knows. With High Tide I add 6 to 10 feet just to be safe. Imagine my utter surprise when depth came out to be 135 feet!!!!

To make matter worse My Girl and I shared this charter with 4 Very Beautiful Dutch Wind Surfers as Aruba is a very big destination for Wind Surfers and Wind Surfing Competitions. The 4 girls were in fantastic shape but this means very little when doing a wreck dive as experience is most important. Add to all this a 4 foot 7 inch very horny Aruban Dive Master that given my 6 foot 1 inch 225 lbs frame...made me place absolutely ZERO confidence in this guy getting ANYONE out of a bind underwater. So basically...I had to look out for everyone including Micro-Arubaman.

The ships superstructure is completely exposed and rusted RAZOR SHARP with strong currents swirling around it at about 5 to 10 knotts. Water is clear to infinity but ther are sharks and in particular to my surprise...a BULL. The Bull has the largest adrenal gland in the animal kingdom so I will stear far clear of them and if the water was not so deep...as Bulls love to ambush in shallow water...I would have got back on the boat asap...but Micro-Arubaman was gesturing and pointing out this 12 foot Bull to the Dutch Girls as My Girl and myself swam up behind the girls and pulled them in a direction well away from this shark. One of the girls had a charm bracelet on her wrist which I immediately took off her and placed in my dive shorts zipper pocket as there were curious Barracuda everywhere. They are just curious but a shiny bracelet could have cause them by instinct to attack her wrist. At this point I was livid and watched in horror as Micro-Arubaman started moving into and between the superstructure with one of the Dutch Girls while My Girl and I were getting the bracelet off the other. I am BEYOND a strong swimmer and diver and I could tell that the currents near and around this wreck were not something to screw with. As the Dutch Girls were just wearing Bikini Bottoms as water temps were like bath water...if they or Micro-Arubaman were to be pushed up against the wrecks structure due to current...they would be shreaded...add to this various sharks and one...now out of sight Bull...I have never seen a Bull swimming out in the open water like this one as Bulls tend to stay in the shallows near fresh water inlets or rivers...the Bulls behaviour had me worried as it was not acting right.

Thankfully...the Dutch Girls run out of compressed air after 19 minutes due to the depth and their inexperience. My Girl and I still had about 7 minutes left as I was furiously swimming hard all over the place the whole time trying to keep people from dying.

Just to add insult to injury...Micro-Arubaman shot up to the surface holding one of the Dutch Girls from behind by her waist without doing a DECOMPRESSION STOP. My Girl stopped the other girl and we decompressed together.

When I got back on the boat...at first I said nothing and held my temper in check. Then...after hearing that one of the girls...the one that did not do a stop...was flying out tommorow morning...I FREAKED!

I told her..."Don't you know that less than 12 hours is NOT enough time to get all the Nitrogen out of your body?!? If you fly out...YOU ARE GOING TO DIE!!!" Micro-Arubaman got scared and stuttered in bad English..."Why are you saying that? There is only air in our tanks...there are no toxins!"

Right there and then I KNEW this guy had absolutely ZERO qualifications or training in Diving and I screamed at him..."She just took in 80 cubic feet of Oxygen and Nitrogen in 19 Minutes and neather you or her did a decompression stop...you two will be lucky if you don't get the Bends tonight never mind flying out in a Jet that has a Cabin pressurized to 7000 feet!"

My Girl and myself along with the two girls got to shore and had a few beers as I explained why one of them could not leave the island in the morning. She changed plans as go figure...she was a WEALTHY Wind Surfer...LOL! We all went to a Halloween Party that night at the Wiskey Club and the evening turned out very interesting.

Hey guys at AAC! Glad to be here. :)

My name is Abhilash. I'm from India. I'm a 2nd year Electronics and Communication student. But, I'm very new to Electronics and have a very steep learning curve. I'm here to get all knowledge I can to help out with my very limited knowledge. I have been a part of Tech Support Forum for 2 years now. Just to say I'm acquainted with forum ethics! :D

Hope I make the most of the brilliant minds here. :)

Thanks in advance!
