i have pruchased an old natonal tv with only a coax input, that i want to set up with a ps1, so the idea was to use an rf modulator, and the one i got from futuretronics (older one in a vintage hifi store, not the one listed on their site) works with a different, newer tv, but at the lowest adjustment on the tuning controls on the national it is a stable image and you can see it is close, but the bands are still very narrow, the rest of the tuning range, l, h and u, all around the dial is snow of various looks.
so i am thinking the outout of this rf modulator is too low for the tv?
tv is 50hz 75ohm
vhf/uhf.
the rf modulator has nothing to indicate its range.
the ps1 is 50hz
i opened up the modulator and it has an adjustment dial, it had a wax seal on it, in hindsight this should have been a red flag, but i decided to play with it, and no luck, except now it will barely pick up signal on the newer tv, so safe to say i have cooked that. and im thinking an rf modulator with adjustable output is the go
i have found to that look to be ideal in terms of adjustability
https://www.kingray.net.au/au/distribution-amps/md100vs/
https://www.kingray.net.au/au/distribution-amps/md100us/
main difference being the vs is 44-470mhz and the us is 470-860mhz
so now its a matter of asking, wich one do i need for my tv, and how can i check what the tuning range of the tv is?
hopefully this is a fairly basic problem and someone will have encountered similar things before.
cheers, connor
