How long is a piece of string?

What is the current being carried? What voltage? Does the unit need to conform to anything like a UL standard?

Doesn't need a specific unit, the voltage is around 8v-9v, the current range is fro 500mA to 1000mA, and the length of the wire would be at most 5 inches.

The minimum I would use is 22 Ga. copper. That's more-or-less standard hookup wire for breadboards and projects, and it would handle 1A with minimal voltage drop (or heat production) over that short distance. Anything larger than 18 Ga would be overkill.

Gaaa! dl324 wins with brevity!
