I'm trying to fix a desk lamp but can't remove the cable because this round thing is holding it in place.
Is there a proper way to remove it without destroying it (which I did with the last one I found)?
Also, how's it called? I tried google image searching this pic without success.
It's difficult to see in the picture but if that grey bit around the wire is in two pieces then squeeze the two parts together with pliers or similar. This will release the grey bit from the casing and then the two parts will separate releasing the wire.
I try to remove them from the inside, if accessible. That way, you do not bugger up the part that shows. Same process of squeeze, except push instead of pull. You may need to rotate it to get your pliers on the wings/inside stops that need to be compressed.
