Can someone help me identify what kind of diode this might be?

 

What is the circuit its in?

Thanks, thats the track i was on also.
Its from a circuit board in a remote controller for a hospital type bed.
It meassured open circuit so i figured it was broken (beginner at this) and also the component tester claimed it was a capacitor.

As the device has no polarity band, it indicates a bi-directional type.

It is a 40V TVS. It will exhibit as open circuit and resemble a capacitor. It is not bad.
