What is this fet so I can replace it.

No one can guess without a part number or schematic/device model. The copper wire is hiding the part number, maybe try to get a clearer picture of it.

Ok thanks, so there should be a part number under that wire? I will see if I can get at it. Why is it designed that way with the copper wire there?

What is the function of the circuit board this device is attached to?

And what makes you think it's a FET?

Hmmm case style 305A-1, or SOT-103/SOT-173 Ceramic or Gold Ceramic (NOT plastic). The device type is on the other side of the package.... is it not visible from the underside of the board? Most likely a bipolar, but I can't find anything remotely good for KU-band from the usual suspects so this may be an obsolete device (how old is the system?). Most modern KU-band devices are packaged in a sort of rectangular wave-guide case...

You might be out of luck on this one...
