I am looking for some additional features that a "smart" inverter might have in comparison to a conventional inverter.

Normally, every inverter used in power electronics has some kind of an intelligent system in it to control and monitor. Yet, some are insisting on adding the word "smart" to the inverters.

Apart from all commercial considerations, what additional features does a "smart inverter" have in comparison to an inverter? In particular, how can I define a "smart inverter" by explaining the "extra features" it might have?

What can be some additional features that a normal inverter lacks?
