Dear all,

I have seen a type of variable speed three phase wound rotor induction motor with a small induction motor mounted on that big wound rotor motor and when the operator press a button for speed increase or decrease that small motor rotate and hence move the big motor brush position.

But i need to understand the principle of this speed control mechanism

There are several variations of wound rotor induction motors, The only motor I can think of that fits that that where the brushes are moved is a Repulsion-start, Induction run motor?
Do you have anything else on the motor and/or its application?

Sorry for delay to respond (it was internet connection issue). The motor is used in textile factory for moving fabrics through chemicals (starch) and dryer the motor also has fan which seems to cool around the brush/commutator

Does it have a single slip ring or three?
Doesn't really help, if the motor plate information is known, that might help.
Max.
