VW - not so "Clean Diesel"

"KBA believes Daimler’s Euro 6 diesels are emitting polluting gases in excess of what the regulations say and the exhaust systems of those caempahars are featuring manipulating control software. The firm’s compression ignition engines use urea nitrate liquids to naturalize nitrogen oxide emissions in exhaust fumes."

This appears to be different than the VW cheating. There it was reported that the reason for the cheating was so they did not need to use urea.

Frankfurt am Main (AFP) - Audi chief executive Rupert Stadler was arrested Monday in connection with parent company Volkswagen's "dieselgate" emissions cheating scandal, with prosecutors saying they feared he might try to suppress evidence.

The dramatic development comes a week after Munich prosecutors raided Stadler's home after charging him with fraud and falsifying documents that allowed diesel vehicles equipped with cheating software to be sold to European customers.

Four police officers detained the Audi boss at his home at between 6 and 7 am, a spokesman for Munich prosecutors told AFP, saying that the arrest was justified as he is suspected of "seeking to influence witnesses or other suspects".

Yes, indeed United States soccer is “presented by” Volkswagen. Look at the top left of that page. So, lie and cheat and get rewarded. What a world we live in.
I'm not following. How is Volkswagon sponsoring some aspect of U.S. Soccer, probably by giving them millions of dollars in exchange for claiming that it is being presented by Volkswagon, rewarding them for lying and cheating?

Are you really implying that if they hadn't lied and cheated that U.S. Soccer would have turned down their sponsorship?

I was reacting to seeing the VW logo on the coaches jackets at the recent game with Panama. This is my national team hooked up with crooks. I don’t like it.

The entire company VW has not been judged "crooks". They've been fined and a few executives punished, but the company as a whole is legally allowed to continue business. And they're doing pretty well, actually. I recommend to just look past it and enjoy the game.

The events took place between November 2006 and September 2015, the prosecutors said, adding that Winterkorn had failed in his duty to inform European and U.S. authorities after it became clear in May 2014 that diesel engines had been manipulated.

“Former Chief Executive Dr. Martin Winterkorn is being charged with a particularly serious case of fraud, a violation of the law against unfair competition and breach of fiduciary trust,” the prosecutors’ office said in a statement.

He also neglected to inform customers of the illegal software and did not prevent the continued installation of such software, the prosecutors alleged.
