unit normal vector to a line

Region 1 is defined as 2x+y <= 0 and region 2 is defined as 2x+y >=0. If I were to used [gradient (2x+y)] /[its magnitude] to find a unit normal vector, the vector should heading from region 2 to 1 or 1 to 2?
