Conductive electrical tape in TVs.
Does this have a function besides simply holding things in place? For example earthing.
Logic suggests to me that if all it did was hold things in place why would it need to be conductive?
Any kind of general non conductive tape would be appropriate. In fact non conductive would be better in my opinion.
To remove the main board I have had to cut through this tape at various points.
See attached picture. Top right hand corner of board for example.

Cheers

Appears to be bonding a copper strip that most likely has the same potential as the board frame screws that also GND the PC ground plane to case and earth ground.

hi RAM,
Conductive tape is also used as a screen against 'electrical noise'.

After repairing, I would advise replacing with the correct conductive tape.

Conductive tape is frequently used for shielding, and aside from needing to be replaced afterwards, you also must avoid creating short circuits with it.

Conductive tape is often used as shielding material, which is used to seal the joints of EMI shielding rooms, shells, and electronic equipment, wind cables for shielding, provide a reliable grounding surface and provide electrical contact to surfaces that cannot be welded.
