So im trying to repair something my father shorted by putting a 9v battery in backwards (says his eyesight is going) and im trying to find a replacement part but have some questions. This is the part he popped

Ive been searching for an exact replacement and the closest I get is a ht7550a-1 that looks like it without the bottom letters. Do the bottom letters matter or are they just a way for companys to know that they are parts specifically for them? Will a ht7550a-1 work in its place?

Ok. Thanks for confirming that. Wanted to make sure before I ordered a replacement. Is there a difference between the ht7550-1 and the ht7550a-1?

Well, at least the exploded LDO he is trying to replace it bad, and it makes sense that it acted like a fuse on reverse polarity.
