I didn't post a exact schematic because I wasn't sure how to draw one.

I copied and pasted the wrong schematic you posted into Microsoft Paint program then I moved its parts around. You can easily do the same.

Erm.. no, not exactly. Thank you for taking the trouble to draw a schematic and reply.. However, I think I had just mixed up the leads.
As someone said previously, I think I had made an emitter follower by accident...
