keep them lubricated, Silicone-Lithium is the best.
Thanks. Yeah, it does open and close the garage door, but there's springs to help neutralize the amount of force required. But for sure, I'll make sure it is plenty lubed. As for spinning a can of paint - I don't perceive much of a load at all. The table will support the weight. The motor will just rotate the table.

OK, that arangement is many years newer than the last GDO I disassembled. That one used a mains power induction motor, also with a plastic worm reduction, to rotate a #30 roller chain sprocket. (#30 is just one size larger than older bicycle chain.) That provided the mechanism for pulling the door . With a plastic sprocket and belt it is no wonder the newer model failed soon enough for you to salvage such modern pieces. Those older generation GDOs were made to last the life of the door.

Bench test using 13.8V 19A power supply: 7RPM @ 13.8V. That would be plenty to stir a half gallon of paint in a gallon container over night. Or over a long period of time. 42 RPH or 504 RPD (D = 24 hour period). That'll keep the paint stirred.

OK, we've gone off topic. The TM Speed controller works beautifully.

It was the electronics that failed in this Genie Garage Door Opener.
Those older generation GDOs were made to last the life of the door.
The Craftsman GDO was replaced because it would randomly open and close the garage door. I changed the code switches several times but it still randomly opened and closed. It Could have been the AFB nearby. Nevertheless, I had no choice but to swap it out. Oh, one repair I had to do to the Craftsman GDO was to replace the bushing that carried the chain gear. A previous owner must have over tensioned it. One issue I had was the chain popping off the sprocket. New bushing took care of that problem.

I have two Genie GDO's in operation now. One has been in operation for 17 years, the other about 14 years. The younger one is the one with the failed PCB. That's how I come to have an extra motor assembly.
