Hi All,

Our project supervisor asked us to search for the possibility of transfering internet data using light in terms of the availability of the necessary components to build the project.

Any help or suggestion if the idea can be implemented practically.

Welcome to AAC.

Laser-based point to point data communications is a commonplace. What information do you need that you aren’t finding with an Internet search?

What do you imagine the “components” to look like? Do you want to build this at the board level or are you looking for complete subsystems to use?

We have project for measurments course and our supervisor asked us if we can practically build a system like wi-fi router to exchange data using light instead of using radio signal.

we searched and found that to exchange data using light we need light source as transmitter and photo receiver but as our poor experience in hardware design we cant determine the specification needed for the hardware used to build such system and how we connect the fiber or eathernet cable with the photo transmitter and reciever.

Therefore, we look forward to any assistance or suggestions through which we can overcome the problem we are facing.

I will see the links attached in the comments above.

thanks in advanced

You mean light as spread out for non-singular reception, or just a narrow beam of light for a single receiver?
Both sound interesting.
