Hello, I am looking for a touch sensor that can detect a material that is touching. I found a Robotic Finger Sensor from Sparkfun but it is too big for my application.

As I can see it uses two sensor, one IR distance sensor and one pressure sensor. Do you know something simillar but smaller in size? Thank you.

 

There are resistive pressure touch sensors....?

Or capacitive touch sensors ....?

Strain gauge on a beam that as beam deforms sensor unbalances its bridge....?

Oscillators where object either capacitively or inductively alters resonant freq of a tank circuit.

Laser based optical refraction/reflection approach ....?
