He was boiling Kerosene with those moth balls.
A solution tht is used to apply to plywood's , which prevents termites.

Apparently it good too hot and must have caught fire.
Sources say he threw the boiling stuff into the bathroom, must have panicked.
He got burned pretty badly.

I have to visit the hospital to check out how bad.

Home is OK, I checked, He was doing it upstairs.

Everybody was in hospital when I went to check.

 

I hope he heals quickly. The worst I've gotten is a pot of boiling WATER on my face. I can't imagine how bad kerosene must be.

I had two buddies that went through a transformer explosion, one died within a week, and the other eventually came back to work after 2 years. It was, and continues to be a hard go, after 30 years.

Was it electrical injury? Or were the injury from the oil in the transformer?

Sorry to hear that.. And sorry that it still affects you..

 

I live a relatively normal life. It's the bud that still wears a mask when he goes out in public who's life is compromised. We can laugh together, but he's usually pretty quite otherwise. His wife bailed out but he does have a two wonderful kids that keep him grounded.

 

An engineer I consider a friend had a nephew who was involved in a high tension line electrical accident. Being a line man is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world, the percentage of deaths is way up there. Safety is paramount, but all it takes is one slip, and sometimes it isn't your fault.

He survived, barely. Permanent disability, 3rd degree burns all over his body.

Electricity at this power level is insane, it explodes, there is no other word for it, in a large plasma fireball.

My feeling (and I hope it is true) is that we are getting close to true regeneration techniques. It is badly needed, both for veterans and for guys like these.

Georgia Boy,he was called.. young 6"2.. cold day in So.Fla many years ago.
A portable kerosene heater started to burn in the house with family inside.
He gave his live by picking up the heater and tossing it out side, a hero.

Besides, he was just a bit careless, which I never thought he would be.

I take back what I said about him, he wasn't careless.

48% of his body is badly burned.
I just cannot take a picture, even to remember, or to show u, not today.
I am having a hard time expressing myself right now. Like me. He is the eldest. lives alone with his kids and ex-wife. He gave his ex, part of his property cause she was the mother, so she she can stay and take care of the kids.
They were there. all girls. I told them to call me if they needed anything infact I did find them a pain killer they were trying to find but was not available near by. I guess I dropped buy just the right time.

He can talk but doctor said not to. I cannot describe his face. His hand and legs were completely burned.

This should not have happened. Everything is a test of faith.

Found out exactly what happened though.

This was something everybody here does to treat the woods.
He too was building his house, since his kids are growing up.
He was boiling tar with kerosene and moth balls. Since he was building the house he was doing it in the room. Must have the fire a bit high. The mixture caught fire. He did not panic.

He tried to put it out by hand for the sake of his home and kids, and by God he did, he did put out the fire even though he was on fire the whole time. He was alone upstairs when it happened, I think ( I did not ask much, but I will later). Some one said he put out the fire in the room and him too. He was burned pretty badly but he came down the stairs to get to the car and call the ambulance. It was the neighbors that put out the fire in the toilet.

I am trying to put the pieces to together and only he knows and I just don't have the courage to look at him u know and ask. but still he is cracking jokes... that's how he is..he's a good friend. Full of life.

Now I couldn't even recognize him, his face is somewhat swollen. Thank God his eyes were OK, but he can barely open his eyes.

He is a hero u know..He saved his home and his kid's below.
He said to me and I quote " I did not think I will live through this."

world.I don't know If you have all the facilities there for burn treatment.
Let us all inquire a about serious burn treatment centers and get back to Riaff.

 

I am glad that he is still alive, and I hope his burns heal quickly. My prayers will be with him and his family.
