I Have recently purchased a mono loudspeaker. I am mounting the speaker to my back rack and I would like to splice into my speaker wires. I'm wondering if it is as easy as it seems to make it play in stereo. my new loud speaker has a 3.5 mono jack wired to it. I see lots of devices on eBay to split mono to stereo. and devices to wire RCA's on the end of speaker wire. So can I just splice into my left and right speakers wire on RCA's plug it into the adapter unit thing and plug my speakers 3.5 jack in and I'm good to go?

The stuff on ebay -----

The mono to stereo thing:

The stereo wire to rca:

The speaker:

Welcome to the forum!
Technically, this project could be considered a vehicle modification. As such it would be against the Terms of Service of this site. Don't be surprised if the mods lock the thread.
Plugging an extra speaker into an existing system may overload the amplifier.

Those adapters merely split a mono signal to two (stereo) speakers. If you were to use them, you would lose all stereo. Everything would be in mono.

What you need is a circuit that will mix each stereo channel into one mono channel, while retaining the original stereo signal. Fortunately, that is simple. Unfortunately I don't know of any plug and pray solutions.

Here is a pic of one such circuit. It is a passive circuit. Note that more complicated and robust active solutions are available.

Alec_T's warning is a valid one. Also, some amplifiers left and right speaker Gnd may be isolated and not appropriate foryour truck's mono ground.

Is the amp just to power the speaker? I think the speaker hooks directly to the battery
I don't know. Your description is definitely vague. What parts of the speaker hooks to the battery?

At this time, I'm waiting for a mod call on the automotive modification rule.
