"It is not so very important for a person to learn facts. For that he does not really need a college. He can learn them from books. The value of an education in a liberal arts college is not the learning of many facts but the training of the mind to think something that cannot be learned from textbooks.”

Only at a liberal arts college can one discover that men are better women than women."It is not so very important for a person to learn facts. For that he does not really need a college. Yes it was.who the hell is AE? ... I hope it wasn't Albert Einstein
There are sooooo many Einstein quotes out there that I'm going to hold judgement on that one ... but now I realize he might've been speaking as a mathematician, or a philosopher for that matter.

And for the record. Yes, I think that the main purpose of a college education is teaching the student to think by himself, and to know where to look for answers. But I've always thought that the acceptance of basic facts (let's call them axioms, and not dogma) is necessary for anyone to have a solid foundation of knowledge.

https://www.koin.com/local/rei-to-close-portland-pearl-district-store-blames-break-ins/We are sad to share that our store in Portland’s Pearl District will close early next year.
For nearly 20 years, REI has proudly served our members and the outdoor community from this location. We’ve had a presence in Oregon for over half of our 85-year history, opening our third store nationally at Jantzen Beach in 1976.
The safety of our employees, members and customers is always our number one priority. In recent years, Portland has been dealing with increased crime in our neighborhood and beyond. Last year, REI Portland had its highest number of break-ins and thefts in two decades, despite actions to provide extra security.
