I hadn't paid that much attention to SpaceX. Virgin Galactic with Branson and Rutan were getting all the press for a while and SpaceX just kinda crept in and took over. I remember Burt Rutan because it was the Hercules carbon fiber that made his round the world nonstop flight possible (along with many others). Before the butcher Gossage started selling off all the non-specialty chemical assets of Hercules and ran it into the ground and out of business while making himself rich doing it. SpaceX is pretty damn impressive.

Is that out of a masochistic curiosity or do you have a genuine need for this? How old does a PC need to be anyway to support Win3.1? Or have Win3.1 support it ...

Are you doing that now? It always amazes me when people attempt a major OS upgrade without considering the hardware.

Also, is this system going to be connected to the Internet? Win95 is very insecure and may likely be compromised quickly.

It just came to mind as the hardest upgrade I ever did.

 

A little surprised people took the upgrade comment as if it were happening today...

I ran my original Genuine California Garage Clone PC upgraded to 640k (came with 128k), clock/calendar card (added), CGA graphics (was mono), dual 1.2meg disks drives (from single 360k), added serial/parallel card for printer and external modem, and a freaking speedy 10mhz turbo boost until making entries into TurboTax took ~10s+ to process for each entry. Started on DOS 2.1. My how things have changed...

LOL was just thinking we went from the Whole Earth Catalog to Computer Shopper in just about 1 decade. From Woodstock to Star Wars.

 

My first computer was a Radio Shack TRS80 running TRSDOS. I splurged and bought a 10 Meg external hard drive when my floppies couldn't hold all the data.

 

Yep, I almost bought a "Trash 80" but ran into a funding problem being fresh outta college and a new dad.

All my modern Linux desktops/servers boot from zero to fully operational in about 10 seconds. The OS boots faster than it takes the BIOS to POST and start the initial loader. Oh, and it takes another 10 seconds to remember my password and type it in correctly (I use complicated passwords).
