"China Debut's worlds fastest Train"
https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/china-fastest-maglev-train-intl-hnk/index.html
Seems strange that since 1800's when the first Railway Pioneer, British inventor Richard Trevithick ran his first locomotive, I would have thought that now high speed rail would have been developed more in Britain and especially N.A. with more open spaces - longer distances for e.g. but for a country that did not go through an industrial revolution, China now seems to be leading!

The train's tracks act like a huge linear synced induction motor ... right?

What happens when cops do nothing.

KGW reached out to Portland police about Sunday night's event. According to Lt. Greg Pashley, there was one reported crash but no reported injuries. Because of the congestion and the crowd, Pashley said police and medical crews made no attempt to enter the intersection and intervene.

"Police were prepared to respond to calls related to specific threats to life, which we did not receive," Pashley said.

He added that it's police policy not to respond if there is not threat to lives.

Not much to say here. Dropping requirements for basic literacy will surely help "disadvantaged" get ahead in life.

Here is an old but true story of Lomonosov. https://www.aps.org/publications/apsnews/201111/physicshistory.cfm
What an idiotic way of thinking ... "let's lower the bar so that everyone can jump higher" ... what's going to happen IMO, is that private schools are going to flourish and public schools will become (as we say down here) "diploma-printing centers". The inevitable conclusion will be that the private sector will end up disdaining graduates from public schools, and only government agencies will make a hiring effort which will only exacerbate bad public services.

Yes it is a straight road to an ever more divided and segregated society. Where are the riots over this though? Is there a "save our children" movement?
