Yup, Garmin has been in the GPS business for quite a while now. Started mostly with marine but pilots I know have been using Garmin handheld GPS in their planes since the 80s if I remember correctly. I heard about the Autoland incident and didn't know it had been implemented but thought it pretty darn good business! I've been using their marine GPS since LORAN went out which has been quite a while ago. It can be (I haven't) attached to both the Marine VHF to automatically send alarm and position notification to the Coast Guard in an emergency and the steering controls. I haven't seen auto return to home port but autosteering to a designated position has been around almost as long as fixed in-boat GPS units have.

Hello,

In europe, the gps can be manipulated by the russians.
That is why the ships have the old cards for navigating as backup.

Sorry for the not relevant question. What is that "Kilo" the Autoland does mention every time?
In phonetic alphabet, Kilo is “K”.

The audio in the NBC News clip was cut short. The full airport code is heard in other videos.

“Kilo Bravo Juliett Charlie“ = KBJC, the ICAO code name of Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport in Broomfield, Colorado where the plane was attempting to make an emergency landing.

30R is the runway where the plane was going to land.
