We want to connect our magnetic particle brakes to the Internet of Things for remote monitoring.

Good morning.

Our workshop is connecting equipment to the network and we want to transmit the operating temperature, input current, and actual torque of several magnetic particle brakes for predictive maintenance.

I've read that some newer magnetic particle brakes integrate sensors and communication modules, allowing data transmission via Profinet or EtherCAT. Can we add an external monitoring module to our older equipment?

We don't want to significantly modify the existing control system. Are there any readily available small-box solutions? We only need to collect key parameters and remotely monitor the curve changes.

Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
